The sixth anniversary of the PLAY. concept brings to Bratislava’s Fuga the sound name of the world’s alternative electronic scene. We will be pleased to welcome Jana Woodstock, a DJ and producer from Kiev, who has deservedly earned her position on the scene and who has a strong international audience supporting her. She will be joined by bbk from the Bratislava-based OLAM collective and event residents Marosh and Ema Veld.

¤ JANA WOODSTOCK [UA, DE]

Jana Woodstock is a Ukrainian DJ from Kiev, currently residing in Berlin. Her set changes and evolves from noisy industrial and hardcore to electro and techno, keeping the audience on their toes with a subtle balancing act between harder, darker music and groovy, melodic choices. Gradually expanded her music choice with more colors of dark – EBM and trancy melodies. She now concentrates more on electro and own music production. She has been featured on HÖR, Pinkman, and other platforms where she has exhibited her excellent selection. Her portfolio includes of course major clubs such as Tresor, Berghain, Closer, RSO.Berlin, Fabric London, Ciało and many more. Jana is a driving force in the independent Ukrainian electronic music, founder and a resident of SNAKES (Kyjev/Montreal) and CXEMA.

David Cierny aka bbk is a member of the Junction Bratislava crew with residency in FUGA club who has been involved in underground music scene in Bratislava for over a decade. In addition to Junction, bbk is engaged in projects such as Covert Interests, Krasne Straty, Derivate and Asfalt Soundsystem. In 2022 he become a resident artist of OLAM Collective. David is a keen record collector and currently runs his new event Kontrast.

DJ, promoter and founder of the brand PLAY., who has been dedicated to the dance underground since 1998. He also worked as a program manager in the Žilina club Guru, collaborated on events Reaction Control, klubNACHT, and his own promotional efforts and projects include ElechtroChatowica, Restart ,Technozhluk or FOUR. Besides his home ground you could hear him in several well-known clubs in Czechia, but also in Poland or London. Marosh offers a fresh peak club techno sound suitable for more intimate spaces as well as big stages, but he as much likes to dive into minimal or deep sound.

Ema Veld discovered the magic of underground electronic music at a later age, and it absorbed her all the more. She has loved music all her life, she played the piano as a child. Influenced by classical music and various musical styles, her scope in electronic music is wide. From ambient, minimal, deep house or electro, to club techno, in which she tries to share her own vision. You will surely dive in deep moods in her sets. She inclines to downtempo, but when needed, she easily pulls you into high speed dance positions. In techno, apart from deep sound, she likes to carry you away with rawness and even decadence, captivate you with bizarre elements, until finally you will be relaxed by a portion of lightness, groove or elegance. In her sets you will typically find a pre-meditated story as she indulges in creating various atmospheres. She loves when music is intelligent, unpredictable and enriching human senses.
